A kettle is the cheapest upgrade in coffee, and also the one people over-think. If you make tea or instant stuff, any kettle works. If you brew filter coffee seriously, the spout shape and temperature control stop being trivia. The Cuisinart PerfecTemp is the 10 EUR workhorse; the Bonavita Gooseneck is the one pourover people actually recommend. Eight times the price for a different kind of pour.
Our analysis
The Cuisinart is honest about what it is: six preset temperatures, a 1.7L steel body, and a standard wide spout. It gets water to the right band for green tea or French press and holds it. What it cannot do is the slow, controlled spiral pour that keeps grounds from channeling in a V60. That is exactly what the Bonavita's gooseneck exists for: a thin, curved spout you can pour in a thin thread for thirty seconds without flooding the bed. Its variable dial also beats the Cuisinart's six steps when a recipe calls for 94 C specifically. The cost is real: 1L means two pours for a big batch, and it eats more counter space. For tea-and-instant use the Cuisinart is simply the rational buy; for pourover or AeroPress the Bonavita pays for itself in one less ruined bag of expensive beans.
Conclusion
Keep the Cuisinart PerfecTemp if coffee is "hot water on grounds" in your house. Move to the Bonavita Gooseneck the moment you care which way the water lands. Most people who say they want a gooseneck never really use it; most people who use it once do not go back. At 88 EUR it is a purchase you make once.
